Homemade bread from the 1920s

Step 1
Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 tsp sugar. Let foam. Sift together flour, salt and sugar together. Next add in yeast mixture, egg and oil. Knead until soft dough forms. Next knead in an additional cup of flour. Can use stand mixture. Place in oiled pan and cover and put in warm place. Once doubled, knock down. Then roll out and roll back up like jelly pan and put in buttered Pullman pan. Cover and let rise about 1 hour. Bake at 375 until top when thumped sounds hollow. Can be baked in bread machine Can do a triple rise if you prefer.
